“Intimidad Exterior/Outer Intimacy” is an international artistic project organised by the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Granada (Spain), the Vice-Rectorate for Internationalization of the University of Granada, the National School of Fine Arts Institute and the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Urban Planning of the University of the Republic (Uruguay), in association with the Visual Culture, Education and Identity Construction Research Centre of the University of the Republic (Uruguay) with the aim of generating a large-scale artistic action that offers an overarching panorama of the way people from different countries currently understand and experience space. A performative experience is put forward with the intention of relativising the forced presence of the inner space of our homes –ordinary and personal– in the necessary virtual meetings brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic to examine our way of living and interacting with exterior space.

The action took place in virtual format on 24 March 2021 via the Zoom platform. All the participants turned on the cameras of their devices and framed an exterior space that symbolised their intimacy, indicating their name, the time and their exact location.

This action was participated in by strategic partners in Brazil, Costa Rica, Spain, Finland, Georgia, Italy, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Czech Republic, Serbia and Uruguay. The editing of these contributions led to an artistic piece, a video-mosaic that transports us to faraway places, inviting us to relativise the physical borders imposed by distance in order to contemplate the way that we currently interact with interior and exterior space and the way this defines us.

This project is shown in the context of “BAG 4th International Arts Festival” and will be open to the public from 7-27 May (10 a.m.-2 p.m. and 5 p.m.-8 p.m.) at the Exhibition Hall of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Granada.
